Illusion Artist Creates 3D Anamorphic Installation Art Involving the Perspective Of The Eye
Michael Murphy is an American installation artist based in Brooklyn, NY. His work has been featured in numerous publications, gracing the covers of TIME’s 2012 “Person of the Year” page and his illusion based art has been followed across the US and Europe. The sculptor’s latest creation titled “Perpetual Shift” can be witnessed at the Image Gallery in New York - an anamorphic installation series of a 3D halftone sculpture constructed with 1252 wooden balls, braided fiber and paint construction of an eye.

“Jacobs’s dioramas provide peeks into a world in which reality is presented in such exquisite detail it begins to look surreal.
The artist draws from art history and garden pest control brochures alike to create miniature 3D works of art, viewed through a circular glass lens. Viewers get the impression that they are looking into another realm, simultaneously natural and constructed, familiar and unknown. In a way, we get a taste for a fish’s life from inside the bowl.”
I’m crying because this is incredible
